What are your best personal achievements? Currently represent Wales in lacrosse

What’s your ambition? To represent Wales in lacrosse at the 2010 World Cup.

How long have you been a 5x60 officer? Since September 2008

What did you do before/what is your background? I Graduated from UWIC (University of Wales Institute, Cardiff) where I achieved a degree in Sports and Leisure Management. I then worked as a coach for a year before I applied to be a 5x60 officer for Rhondda Cynon Taff.

What are your 5x60 achievements in the school? Introducing new sports and activities to the school, supporting and motivating in active pupils to participate in activities and taking pupils to arranged 5x60 tournaments and games.

What do you enjoy most about being a 5x60 officer? I really enjoy working in a school environment being able to build relationships with staff and pupils. I also enjoy giving pupils in the school an opportunity to participate in activities and seeing their confidence grow as they get more and more involved.

What’s your favorite 5x60 sport? Badminton and lacrosse

How many activities are on offer and which are the three most popular? During the autumn term there were 12 activities on offer. During the spring term there were 14 activities on offer and currently in the summer term there are 16 activities on offer. The three most popular activities have to be badminton, dodgeball and currently cricket.

The 24-year-old originally from Essex – who represents Wales in lacrosse and has played alongside cricketers Alistair Cook and Ravi Bopara for Essex - has persuaded scores of pupils to get off the sidelines and take part in 5x60 sessions.

He has only been in post for ten months but has already introduced a vast number of extra-curricular activities - 16 of which are running throughout the summer term with dodgeball, cricket and badminton proving most popular.

He explains, "I really enjoy working in a school environment being able to build relationships with staff and pupils. It’s great to see 5x60 giving pupils the opportunity to participate in activities and to see their confidence grow as they get more and more involved."

Michael Doyle, a pupil at Cardinal Newman RC Comprehensive School and a member of the 5x60 basketball team said, "5x60 gave us the opportunity to play basketball matches competitively and obtain a 100% record. We are grateful for the time our 5x60 Officer, Mr Croft, has put in, especially with transport and training."
